Trinidad and Tobago police investigate multiple bomb threats

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has activated security protocols following at least seven bomb threats targeting various locations across the country. The reported targets include the Arima, Princes Town, Chaguanas, Siparia, and Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Courts, the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government at Kent House, and the Valpark Shopping Plaza.

In response, the TTPS has heightened its security posture, deploying officers to conduct checks and instructing regional commanders to maintain high alert at all police stations. Security measures include posting sentries at compounds and increasing vigilance regarding suspicious persons, vehicles, and packages. The Valpark Shopping Plaza was closed temporarily while police conducted searches.

Separately, Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro addressed rumors regarding his recent emergency leave. Guevarro stated he followed established procedures by applying to Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander on August 10 after receiving information from intelligence agencies, dismissing claims that his travel was related to investigations into hidden funds.
