Trinidad and Tobago Police kill suspected home invasion suspect

Mikael Isaiah Lewis, a man wanted in connection with a home invasion and robbery investigation in the Mon Repos district, was shot and killed by police during an anti-crime exercise in Ste Madeleine.

The incident occurred around 3:00 am on October 23. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), officers were traveling in San Fernando when two men reported an unsuccessful attempted robbery by two armed suspects from Corinth Hills. Upon proceeding to the area, officers observed a man on a staircase who matched the description.

Police stated that the man fled up the stairs while holding his waist. During a pursuit, the man allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers and refused commands to drop it, prompting three officers to discharge their service pistols. Although Lewis was transported to the San Fernando General Hospital while still showing signs of life, he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:46 am. Investigations into the shooting and potential links to other robbery and firearm-related cases are ongoing.
