Trinidad and Tobago reopens Princes Town Fire Station

The Princes Town Fire Station has officially reopened in South Trinidad, providing emergency services to approximately 118,000 residents across 56 communities. The temporary facility, housed in a former URP building, was established at a cost of under TT$230,000 through the efforts of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service.

Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander stated that while the station is operational, a permanent location has not yet been finalized due to geotechnical concerns regarding shifting earth at the current site. The government is also evaluating Moruga as a priority area for expanded fire coverage.

In a related development, three new police posts in Tarouba, Tunapuna, and Grand Bazaar are awaiting final approval from Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro and senior executives to become operational. These posts are part of a broader government initiative to increase police and military presence at strategic locations to combat criminal elements.
