Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange launches GSS+ Bond Guidelines
The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange (TTSE) has launched new Green, Social, Sustainability and Sustainability-Linked (GSS+) Bond Guidelines to facilitate sustainable financing in the country. Developed in partnership with IDB Invest and the Climate Bonds Initiative, the framework aims to connect investors with projects focused on renewable energy, climate-resilient infrastructure, affordable housing, and social development.
TTSE CEO Eva Mitchell stated that the guidelines are designed to align with international standards while addressing local market realities through emphasis on transparency, governance, and reporting. Mitchell noted that the initiative is essential for mobilizing private capital, as the public sector cannot independently finance the nation's development needs, including healthcare, education, and modernized transportation.
The framework seeks to provide investors with confidence by ensuring that funds are directed toward projects with measurable environmental and social outcomes. The success of the guidelines will be measured by the volume of transactions they generate within the local capital market.
