Trinidad Chambliss named top college football quarterback

College football analysts and power rankings are highlighting a competitive quarterback race for the 2026 Heisman Trophy. ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit identified Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss as the top passer in the country, a sentiment echoed by co-host Joey Galloway.

Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell is also emerging as a primary contender following a standout performance in a 56-23 victory over Mississippi State, where he recorded four touchdowns. While Russell is noted for his elite play under coach Kalen DeBoer, analysts suggest Chambliss remains the preferred choice despite questions regarding his physical stature.

Other notable names in the Heisman conversation include Miami's Darian Mensah, who has recorded 15 touchdowns and no interceptions through five games, and Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith.
