Trinity defeats Canon-McMillan 29-24 in Washington County rivalry
Trinity secured a 29-24 nonconference victory against Canon-McMillan in a Washington County rivalry game at AHN Field at Big Mac Stadium. The win moves Trinity to a 2-0 start for the season, while Canon-McMillan falls to 1-1.
Trinity established an early lead, reaching 17-0 in the first half and later extending the advantage to 29-10. Key performances included Owen Gardner, who scored twice, and Owen Samogala, who completed 7 of 10 passes for 157 yards. Daniel Glass contributed a 43-yard touchdown run during a critical 99-yard scoring drive.
Canon-McMillan mounted a late comeback attempt. Following a 49-yard touchdown pass from Ty Jansma to Bryan Schmeltz and a successful two-point conversion, the Big Macs recovered an onside kick. Braelon Wingfield added a 4-yard touchdown run to narrow the gap to 29-24. However, Trinity managed to run out the clock after a 32-yard conversion pass from Samogala to Chase Kostelnik kept the drive alive with under three minutes remaining.
