Triple Eight announces engineering reshuffle and technical update
Triple Eight Race Engineering has announced a significant restructuring of its Red Bull Ampol Racing engineering team. Andrew Edwards, the former race engineer for 2024 champion Will Brown, has been promoted to Head of Performance, a role that will oversee both Red Bull Ampol Racing Supercars.
David Cauchi returns to the team to serve as race engineer for Will Brown’s #888 Ford Mustang. Cauchi, who previously engineered Jamie Whincup to two championships, had been working outside of motorsport before being recruited back by Managing Director Jamie Whincup.
These personnel changes follow the discovery of a technical issue involving Will Brown’s car. Team boss Jamie Whincup revealed that the car had been running an undersized 49mm air restrictor instead of the required 50mm unit. The error, which the team had assumed was correct as it was supplied by the governing body, was estimated to cost approximately 0.15 seconds per lap.
