Tripura CM honors legendary musician Sachin Dev Burman
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha paid tribute to legendary singer and composer Sachin Dev Burman during a birth anniversary program held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.
Saha highlighted Burman’s journey from the royal family of Tripura to becoming a globally recognized musician. The Chief Minister noted that despite his aristocratic background, Burman was a self-made individual who established his own identity through hard work. The state government has donated the house associated with the musician to preserve his legacy.
Burman was born in Comilla, which is now located in Bangladesh. His musical style was deeply influenced by the folk traditions and melodies of that region, later blending them with classical elements such as Dhrupad and Hindustani classical music. After his roots in Tripura, he moved to Kolkata and Mumbai, where he became one of India’s most influential musical figures.
