Tripura CM honors senior citizens and Maharaja Bir Bikram
In Agartala, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha participated in a felicitation program for senior citizens organized by the Aurobindo Club. Saha described elderly citizens as invaluable bearers of experience, tradition, and values, urging society to ensure they are not treated with indifference or viewed as a burden.
During the event, Saha highlighted government health initiatives, including the central Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana, which offers medical services up to Rs 5 lakh for citizens over 70, and the state-level Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana.
Separately, the state observed the 118th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. Chief Minister Saha led tributes to the Maharaja, whom he called the architect of modern Tripura, citing his contributions to education, roads, and administrative reforms. While the government emphasized its efforts to honor the Manikya dynasty, royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma raised questions regarding whether the Maharaja's vision for the Tiprasa people has been fully realized.
