Shillong police intensify patrols after series of petrol bomb attacks

Authorities in Shillong have ordered intensified night patrolling following a series of petrol bomb attacks targeting government and police facilities in the East Khasi Hills district. The incidents, occurring within a 24-hour period, included attacks on the Directorate of Mineral Resources in Risa Colony, the Lumdiengjri Police Station, a police booth in the Nongmensong area, and a vehicle parked at the Directorate of Health Services complex in Laitumkhrah.

Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong have directed police to strengthen security and take a proactive approach to prevent further violence. Officials have instructed district officers to maintain high vigilance through CCTV surveillance and increased coordination with community leaders. While several structures and a vehicle sustained damage, no casualties were reported in the recent wave of attacks.
