Tripura police arrest 21 people following BSF attack

Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) have arrested 21 individuals in connection with a November 2 attack on BSF personnel in the Sepahijala district of Tripura. The incident, which occurred near the Ashabari border, involved an assault on an assistant commandant and two other personnel, the vandalism of a BSF vehicle, and an attempt to snatch a service rifle.

Among those detained are prime suspects Hasina Begum and her two sons, Rabiul Hossain and Mahabul Hossain. Authorities reportedly identified the suspects through electronic evidence and viral video footage showing the assault. The suspects face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has directed authorities to maintain zero tolerance toward cross-border smuggling and to take strict legal action to ensure regional peace. Following the incident, high-level security reviews were conducted with officials from the BSF, CRPF, and Assam Rifles.
