Tripura Police arrest eight following attack on BSF personnel
Eight individuals have been arrested by Tripura police following a violent attack on Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the India-Bangladesh international border in the Sepahijala district. The incident occurred in the Ashabari area of Boksanagar when BSF troops from the 49th Battalion intercepted suspected smugglers engaged in illegal activities.
According to reports, after BSF personnel apprehended an Indian smuggler, a crowd of men and women gathered and attacked the troops with sticks and rods. The assault resulted in injuries to three personnel, including a company commander, and an attempt to seize a service rifle. The mob also caused significant damage to a BSF vehicle.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha condemned the violence, stating that such attacks on security forces are unacceptable and promising strict legal action. While eight suspects are currently in custody, authorities are conducting ongoing raids to apprehend remaining individuals involved in the unrest.
