Tripura reports shop fire, political vandalism, and employee protests

Several incidents have been reported in Tripura, including a major fire in Dharmanagar and political unrest in Khumulwng.

A massive fire destroyed three businesses—a garage, a tea stall, and a welding workshop—in the Rajbari area of Dharmanagar. While preliminary reports suggest an electrical short circuit may have caused the blaze, shop owners alleged that a delay in the fire brigade's arrival exacerbated the damage. Fire officials disputed the claim of a significant delay, citing intense flames and active electrical lines as complications, though they noted traffic congestion hindered the second vehicle.

In Khumulwng, unidentified individuals vandalized a BJP office, damaging 12 motorcycles and two cars. The attack occurred amid rising tensions between the BJP and its coalition partner, Tipra Motha, ahead of upcoming Village Committee elections. Security has been intensified in the area.

Additionally, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury criticized the state government in Agartala, citing unresolved employee demands regarding Dearness Allowance and a lack of job opportunities for youth. He also addressed rising living costs and electricity tariffs.
