Tristan McKee Debuts in NASCAR Truck Series with Spire Motorsports
Sixteen‑year‑old Portuguese driver Tristan McKee will make his first start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on August 14 at Richmond Raceway, driving the No. 77 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports. He is slated to compete in five short‑track events – Richmond, New Hampshire, Bristol, Phoenix and Martinsville – after turning 16, which makes him eligible for tracks 1.25 miles or shorter. McKee joins Spire under its Ascent Driver Development program and hopes to help the team’s owners‑points chase.
McKee, a rising prospect with multiple wins in the CARS Pro Late Model Tour and Trans‑Am series, said, “This is a huge step in my career and I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity to drive for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.” His debut is being closely watched as a potential indicator of future talent in NASCAR.
