Tristan Peters named All-Star replacement for Nick Kurtz

Chicago White Sox outfielder Tristan Peters was added to the American League roster for the 2026 All-Star Game after a right‑thumb sprain placed Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz on the 10‑day injured list. The move came a day after Peters became the seventh White Sox player to hit for the cycle, the first since José Abreu in 2017, and the second Canadian ever to record a cycle.

Peters, a 26‑year‑old from Winkler, Manitoba, is batting .303 with six home runs and 35 RBIs in his first full major‑league season. He joins fellow White Sox teammates Miguel Vargas and Japanese rookie Munetaka Murakami on the All‑Star squad; Murakami was added after returning from a six‑week hamstring strain. Reflecting on his promotion, Peters said, “The White Sox gave me this opportunity and I went into it just trying to make the most out of it… an incredibly supportive group and that’s helped me thrive.”
