Tristan Thompson named Global Ambassador for Dubai Basketball

Dubai Basketball has officially appointed former NBA champion Tristan Thompson as its new Global Ambassador. The 35-year-old, who played a key role in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2016 championship, will support the franchise’s international expansion and strategic positioning.

In his new role, Thompson will work with club leadership to foster basketball culture in the United Arab Emirates and beyond. His responsibilities include developing strategic partnerships, engaging with fans, and helping to establish Dubai as a premier destination for elite basketball.

Since its launch in 2023, Dubai Basketball has grown rapidly, becoming the first Gulf-based team to compete in the EuroLeague during the 2025-26 season. Thompson noted that the club is building something that transcends being a simple team, aiming to connect talent and fans across the Middle East, Europe, and other global markets.
