Triton Invitational in Jeju narrows to 16 players
The $200,000 Triton Invitational in Jeju, South Korea, has reached a critical stage after a massive field of 173 entries generated a prize pool of $34,600,000. Following the conclusion of Day 2, 16 contenders remain in contention for the top prize of $7,250,000.
China's Wang Yang currently leads the tournament with a significant chip count of 7.3 million. Hannes Jeschka holds second place, followed by Emilien Pitavy. The tournament saw high drama during the money bubble when Philippine player Semi Sun, previously a large stack, was eliminated after a failed bluff against Wang Yang.
Among the advancing players are three Brazilians: João Simão, who holds 402,000 chips; Pedro Padilha, with 383,000 chips; and Alisson Piekazewicz, with 222,000 chips. The competition is set to resume with blinds at 4,000/8,000.
