Triumph of the Heart wins Grand Prix at Niepokalana Film Festival

The film ‘Triumph of the Heart’, directed by Anthony D’Ambrosio, has won the Grand Prix at the 40th Niepokalana International Catholic Film and Multimedia Festival. The film depicts the final days of Saint Maximilian Kolbe at the Auschwitz concentration camp, focusing on his 1941 decision to volunteer for death in place of a fellow prisoner.

Other notable winners at the festival include ‘Los Domingos’ (Sundays) by Spanish director Alauday Ruiz de Azúa, which took first place in the fiction category, and the Polish production ‘Mistyczka’ (The Mystic) by Jan Sobierajski, which earned second place. In the dramatized documentary category, ‘Sacré Cœur’ (Sacred Heart) by Sabrina and Steven Gunnell received first prize.

The 40th edition of the festival featured creators from 40 countries and operated under the theme ‘Protecting human voices and faces’. The awards ceremony was held at the Pallottine Fathers' Higher Seminary in Ołtarzew.
