Rio de Janeiro to host MotoGP 2027 Season Launch
Rio de Janeiro has been selected to host the official MotoGP 2027 Season Launch on February 21, 2027. The event will take place at Botafogo Beach with Sugarloaf Mountain as a backdrop, featuring all teams, riders, and manufacturers. This decision follows the success of the 2026 Grand Prix in Goiânia, which drew nearly 150,000 spectators. MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta described the choice of Brazil as a way to build on the connection with passionate local fans.
In a separate technical development, Triumph Motorcycles has announced a new engine for the Moto2 World Championship starting in the 2027 season. Based on data from nearly two million kilometers of competition, the new 765cc triple-cylinder engine is expected to provide approximately 6% more power while reducing total weight by 2 kg. The redesign includes a new cylinder head, optimized intake ducts, and a redesigned combustion chamber to increase torque and efficiency. These changes will require chassis manufacturers to adapt their frames to accommodate new engine mounting positions and air intake configurations.
