Tri‑Valley skateboarding community struggles as youth turn to scooters and e‑bikes

Local skaters in California’s Tri‑Valley region say the sport’s momentum is waning. Although skateboarding now enjoys Olympic status and new skate parks are opening nationwide, the area’s handful of parks see fewer riders as youngsters gravitate toward scooters and electric bikes. "It's pretty disheartening," San Ramon resident Jake Hammer told the Pleasanton Weekly, noting that San Ramon's skate park is often empty. Fellow skater Justin‑Daniel Kamanakai Sanchez, known as JD, added that despite limited facilities, a loyal group still practices daily.
