Türk Altın İşletmeleri wins 4th Mine Rescue Competition in Rize

The 4th Mine Rescue Competition, organized by the Turkish Miners Association (TMD) and hosted by Çayeli Copper Operations in Rize, concluded following a four-day event held from September 22 to 25. Thirteen mining rescue teams participated in various modules, including underground search and rescue, earthquake response, fire, HAZMAT, vehicle accidents, and team competency.

Türk Altın İşletmeleri AŞ won the general classification championship. Tüprag Metal Madencilik and Öksüt Madencilik shared second place, while Çayeli Copper Operations and Eti Krom shared third. Zenit Madencilik and Eti Bakır were recognized as the best new teams.

While officials, including Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Abdullah Tancan, emphasized that occupational health and safety are non-negotiable priorities for the sector, the event drew attention to the safety records of participating companies. Some participating firms, such as Çayeli Copper Operations and Eti Bakır, have histories involving industrial accidents and worker fatalities.
