Türk Telekom conducts first European residential Wi-Fi 8 trials

Türk Telekom has conducted some of the first real-world residential tests of Wi-Fi 8 technology, identified as IEEE 802.11bn, in Europe. The trials evaluated the performance of the new standard within home mesh architectures involving multiple devices.

The testing focused on challenging environments characterized by low signal coverage, high device density, and significant interference from overlapping wireless networks. Results indicated that Wi-Fi 8 provides improved stability, performance, and reduced packet loss compared to Wi-Fi 7.

A key feature validated during the trials was Unequal Error Protection (UEQM). This capability allows for the maintenance of high data throughput for signals with strong connections while ensuring connection continuity for devices operating with weaker signal levels. The trials also demonstrated improved transmission speeds over the previous Wi-Fi 7 standard in various high-density settings.
