Azerbaijan and Türkiye expand energy cooperation through new protocols
During the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in Baku, energy ministers from both nations signed protocols to expand strategic cooperation across multiple sectors. Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met to discuss deepening ties beyond traditional oil and natural gas.
The new agreements aim to integrate electricity systems more closely, facilitating better energy security and the integration of renewable energy. The scope of cooperation has been extended to include mining, energy efficiency, petrochemicals, and the development of electricity markets.
Minister Bayraktar emphasized that the partnership is moving toward a more electricity-centric model, noting that interconnected power systems serve as a strategic tool for regional energy supply security and trade. The forum serves as a platform to transform the “one nation, two states” vision into concrete projects that contribute to the energy prosperity of the broader region.
