At the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in Baku, energy ministers from both nations signed a protocol to expand cooperation beyond hydrocarbons into electricity, renewable energy, and mining.

Türkiye's Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced three major electricity projects aimed at regional integration. These include a connection via Nakhchivan to Türkiye, a green energy corridor spanning Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, and Bulgaria, and an undersea electricity transmission line through the Black Sea to Europe. Bayraktar referred to the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria project as the ‘TANAP of electricity’ due to its potential to connect the wider Turkic world.

The regional green energy corridor project is expected to be formalized during the COP31 climate conference in Antalya this November. Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Perviz Shahbazov noted that the partnership has already seen significant success in gas delivery, with 130 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas sent to Türkiye to date.
