Turkey and France sign Defense Cooperation Roadmap

Turkey and France have signed a Defense Cooperation Roadmap aimed at strengthening strategic dialogue and expanding military cooperation. The agreement follows high-level discussions between Turkish and French officials, including Lieutenant General Ilkay Altindag, French Minister Alice Rufo, General Vincent Giraud, and Guillaume Ollagnier.

The roadmap establishes a framework for regular, result-oriented tactical contacts rather than serving as a specific agreement for weapons sales or technology transfers. However, the development occurs amid ongoing discussions regarding Turkey's interest in French-Italian defense systems, specifically the SAMP/T anti-aircraft system and Meteor long-range air-to-air missiles. Turkey has expressed interest in both purchasing these systems and participating in their local production to bolster its domestic Steel Dome air defense program.
