Türkiye and Senegal seek to strengthen ties through media diplomacy

The Turkish Ambassador to Senegal, Dilşad Kırbaşlı Karaoğlu, visited the headquarters of the Senegalese press and publication company, Le Soleil, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties through media diplomacy.

During the meeting, Karaoğlu expressed Turkey's readiness to support the rapprochement between Dakar and Ankara, noting that the partnership has strengthened following the visit of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in late 2024. The ambassador highlighted plans to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027 with special initiatives, such as a dedicated magazine and an exhibition.

Lamine Niang, Director General of Le Soleil, emphasized the need to build a media ecosystem capable of promoting the partnership and ensuring better information flow between the two nations. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation beyond strictly economic and diplomatic frameworks to include communication and information production.
