Türkiye and United Kingdom strengthen security and migration cooperation

The Ministries of Interior of Türkiye and the United Kingdom held the 7th Strategic Security Partnership Meeting and the 4th Migration Dialogue Meeting in Ankara on October 13-14, 2026. The summits aimed to deepen cooperation in security and migration based on the Security and Defense Partnership signed in July 2026.

During the Strategic Security Partnership Meeting, officials focused on strengthening collaboration against transnational crimes, including terrorism and its financing, organized crime, smuggling, cybercrime, and money laundering. Both nations emphasized that such cooperation is vital for their mutual security.

The Migration Dialogue Meeting addressed the increasing links between irregular migration, migrant smuggling, and other cross-border crimes. Participants noted that managing irregular migration requires comprehensive international cooperation that extends beyond simple border controls, emphasizing a shared responsibility for effective and sustainable management.
