Türkiye annual inflation falls to 29.73% in September
The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) reported that consumer prices rose by 1.84% in September, bringing the annual inflation rate down to 29.73%. This represents a 1.78 percentage point decrease compared to the previous year.
While food prices saw a decline due to lower fresh fruit and vegetable costs, energy prices continued to rise. Specifically, fuel prices increased by 10.91% in September, driving the energy group's annual inflation up to 46.11%. Other sectors, such as education services, saw significant increases due to the start of the new school year.
Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan noted that while the disinflation process has made significant progress, geopolitical developments and supply-side pressures—particularly in energy—have slowed the momentum of the decline. Karahan emphasized that energy prices will remain a decisive factor in the inflation outlook through 2026.
