Türkiye blocks 133 X accounts over alleged disinformation

Turkish authorities have blocked access to 133 accounts on the social media platform X following investigations into coordinated disinformation campaigns.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued a ban on 93 accounts, which investigators described as an organized network spreading propaganda favorable to Israel. Officials stated these accounts were used to stoke social animosity and conduct perception operations through disinformation.

In a separate decision, the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office blocked 40 accounts. This group was found to be spreading disinformation regarding developments in the Middle East and the Gulf, targeting national security, and publishing manipulative posts related to the stock market.
