Türkiye İş Bankası increases solar capacity to 45 megawatts

Türkiye İş Bankası has increased its renewable energy capacity for self-consumption to 45 megawatts. Through its subsidiary İş Enerji, the bank commissioned a new 21-megawatt solar power plant in Mardin, following a previous 24-megawatt plant in Bitlis.

The Mardin facility is intended to meet the electricity needs of the Atlas Data Center and various bank branches. This expansion aims to reduce the bank's carbon footprint, with current operations contributing to the prevention of approximately 50,000 tons of carbon emissions annually—an amount comparable to the carbon sequestration of 2.5 million trees.

The bank has set a target to reach approximately 75 megawatts of installed solar capacity for self-consumption by 2027. Additionally, İş Enerji manages a broader portfolio exceeding 1,600 megawatts of renewable energy assets both domestically and internationally.
