Türkiye Maden-İş: Principal severance pay paid to 400 workers

Talih Kocabıyık, the Central Anatolia Branch President of the Türkiye Maden-İş union, announced that the principal amounts of severance pay for approximately 400 workers have been paid. This development follows a 40-day protest in Ankara regarding unpaid labor rights.

Despite the payment of the principal amounts, the union stated that the struggle is not over. Kocabıyık emphasized that they will continue to fight until severance pay interest and other legal receivables are fully settled. He noted that interest calculations will be conducted by an expert.

During the process, company owner Sebahattin Yıldız met with the workers and reportedly admitted to previous mistakes. Yıldız expressed intentions to consider re-employing the workers. The union also plans to meet with the Minister of Energy to discuss the ongoing issues in the mining sector.
