Türkiye net investment position deficit reaches 402.6 billion dollars

Türkiye's net international investment position reached a record deficit of 402.6 billion US dollars as of June, according to data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye.

The country's foreign assets decreased by 1.7 percent to 404 billion US dollars, while total foreign liabilities rose by 3 percent to 806.7 billion US dollars. Within the asset category, direct investments grew by 3.2 percent to 81.2 billion US dollars, but portfolio investments saw a significant decline of 11 percent, falling to 9.1 billion US dollars.

In contrast, foreign holdings of Turkish stocks and investment funds increased by 14.6 percent, reaching 49.7 billion US dollars. The Central Bank's reserve assets were reported at 147.4 billion US dollars. Additionally, derivative contracts were recorded as a new item in the statistics with a net value of -4.3 billion US dollars.
