Türkiye participates in Coalition of the Willing summit on Ukraine
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz represented President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the online summit of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ on August 24, 2026. The international group, which includes over thirty countries primarily in Europe, was established following a March 2025 London summit initiated by the United Kingdom and France.
During the meeting, participants discussed strategies to end the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv and establish a just and lasting peace. Yılmaz reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, emphasizing that the war must be resolved through negotiations to prevent further casualties and destruction.
Yılmaz also raised concerns regarding escalating attacks in the Black Sea, noting the risks to civilian lives, property, maritime safety, and global food security. He stated that Türkiye aims to ensure safe maritime passage by leveraging its experience from the Black Sea Grain Initiative and will continue diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
