Türkiye rent increases reach 49.6%, far exceeding EU average
According to Eurostat data released on October 12, Türkiye recorded the highest annual increase in actual residential rent payments among European countries, including EU members, candidate countries, and EFTA members. Comparing the second quarter of 2025 to the same period in 2026, rents in Türkiye rose by 49.6%.
This rate is approximately 16.5 times higher than the European Union average, which saw a 3% increase during the same period. The data reflects changes in actual rent payments tracked in consumer price statistics rather than listing prices in advertisements.
Within the European Union, Romania and Croatia experienced the highest increases. Rents in Romania rose by 43.5% over the year, while Croatia followed with a 43.1% increase. In both countries, rent growth significantly outpaced general consumer inflation.
