Türkiye wins TTG ‘Destination for Change’ award for sustainable tourism

The Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) has received the ‘Destination for Change’ award at the TTG Travel Industry Awards 2026 held in London. This inaugural award, presented by the Travel Trade Gazette, recognizes destinations that implement environmentally friendly and inclusive tourism practices through concrete projects.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy highlighted that the award recognizes Türkiye’s efforts in sustainable and accessible tourism. Key initiatives include the expansion of environmental practices in accommodation facilities and the development of accessible public beaches to ensure all visitors can enjoy coastal amenities.

As part of a government-level cooperation agreement signed with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) in 2022, Türkiye has implemented the Environmental and Cultural Sustainability Program. To date, more than 2,500 accommodation facilities in the country have earned international GSTC certification.
