TÜRKONFED holds structural reform workshop in Konya
The Confederation of Turkish Businessmen (TÜRKONFED) held its first Structural Reform Workshop in Konya, hosted by the Mevlana Industry and Business Federation (MEVLANASİFED) and the Better Judiciary Association. The event brought together business representatives and academics to discuss regional competitiveness and economic strategy.
MEVLANASİFED President Güliz Arıkoğlu highlighted Konya’s significant potential, noting its 31 million square meters of organized industrial zones, 1.88 million hectares of agricultural land, and a 5.1 percent increase in exports compared to the previous year. She emphasized the need to transition from traditional business models toward technology and sustainability.
TÜRKONFED Board Member Ekmel Tozoğlu advocated for shifting industrial production from the Marmara Region to Central Anatolia. He stated that the concentration of industry in Marmara is unsustainable due to earthquake risks, environmental pressures, and population density. Tozoğlu suggested that moving production to Central Anatolia could transform the region into Turkey’s new manufacturing hub while relieving pressure on the Marmara region.
