Türksat 3A satellite transition scheduled for August 15

The Türksat 3A satellite is scheduled to complete its mission and cease operations on August 15, 2026. Consequently, television and radio broadcasts currently operating on the satellite will be transitioned to newer, higher-capacity satellites, such as Türksat 4A, during the night connecting August 15 and August 16.

Regarding technical requirements, users with satellite receivers utilizing the Türksat Channel Update System (TKGS) will experience automatic updates and will not need to perform manual frequency adjustments. For devices without TKGS, a manual channel scan will be required to update frequency information.

There is no requirement to change the direction of existing satellite dishes, as the new broadcasts will be maintained via satellites in the same orbit. While there have been claims regarding the complete termination of SD (Standard Definition) broadcasts, it has been noted that Türksat has not made a collective decision to shut down SD broadcasts; instead, individual broadcasters may choose to switch to HD (High Definition) based on capacity costs.
