TÜRKSAT and China Satcom sign space technology agreement

TÜRKSAT and China-based satellite operator China Satcom have signed a comprehensive protocol to collaborate on space technology production, R&D, and product development. The agreement was finalized during the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026) held in Antalya, Turkey.

The partnership aims to combine the engineering expertise of both nations to develop innovative solutions, including UAV communication systems, satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and smart border security systems. This collaboration marks a transition from previous capacity-sharing agreements to direct hardware and software development.

The joint effort will cover the entire lifecycle of product development, from market need analysis and prototype creation to testing, verification, and commercialization. The agreement was signed by TÜRKSAT Deputy General Manager of Satellite Services Selman Demirel and China Satcom CEO Ma Haiquan.
