Türksat to shift TV and radio channels to new satellites on 16 August 2026
Turkey’s Türksat satellite operator will move all television and radio services currently carried on the Türksat 3A satellite to other satellites in its fleet during the night of 15–16 August 2026. Because the replacement satellites occupy the same 42° E orbital slot, viewers will not need to re‑aim their dish antennas. Devices that support the Türksat Kanal Güncelleme Sistemi (TKGS) will receive automatic channel‑list updates, while older receivers lacking TKGS will require a manual channel‑scan after the switch.
The migration is prompted by the approaching end of Türksat 3A’s service life and will transfer broadcasts to higher‑capacity satellites such as Türksat 5B, Türksat 4A (as a backup) and Türksat 6A. Standard‑definition and high‑definition channels will continue in their existing formats, and the new satellite fleet offers increased capacity and modern communication technologies.
