Trélissac officials seek road safety measures following fatal accidents

The municipality of Trélissac is working to improve road safety on Avenue Michel-Grandou following a fatal accident in August that claimed the lives of two motorcyclists. Local officials, including Mayor Eric Fallous, held a working meeting with representatives from the Dordogne Prefecture, the National Police, and local departmental services to address dangerous driving behaviors.

Recent data highlights significant speeding issues on the avenue. A pedagogical radar recorded a vehicle traveling at 131 km/h in a 50 km/h zone during the early morning hours. Additionally, a police check in September identified eleven speeding violations within a four-hour period. Authorities noted risks including excessive speed, alcohol, drug use, and mobile phone use, particularly at night.

Proposed solutions to secure the area include the installation of one or two raised crossings, a traffic light system that adjusts based on vehicle speed, and improved pedestrian crossings.
