TRNC Interior Minister addresses maritime disaster and search efforts

Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz stated that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) continues to feel the profound impact of a recent maritime disaster. He emphasized that the primary expectation remains the recovery of the remains of the missing victims.

Search operations are currently being conducted through the joint resources of Turkey and the TRNC. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has been engaged in high-level contacts in Turkey regarding the incident. Oğuz asserted that those responsible for the tragedy will be held accountable through legal processes and that a thorough investigation will be conducted without covering up any details.

Addressing the formation of a parliamentary research committee, Oğuz clarified that the commission will not be limited to government representatives but will include all political parties to ensure oversight. He also cautioned against the spread of conflicting information and misinformation, noting that such inaccuracies cause further distress to the grieving families.
