TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel rejects Greek Cypriot pressure
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has issued a strong condemnation of the Greek Cypriot administration, accusing it of systematic policies aimed at isolating the Turkish Cypriot community.
Üstel cited several recent incidents as evidence of this pressure, including attempts to block an international music event in Kyrenia and efforts to obstruct Presidential Undersecretary Mehmet Dana from meeting with foreign diplomats. He characterized these actions as a contradiction to the Greek Cypriot administration's rhetoric regarding federation and confidence-building.
The Prime Minister also addressed political pressure surrounding the Immovable Property Commission (TMK), stating that the administration will not allow the commission to be used as a political weapon to undermine the TRNC economy and investment climate. Furthermore, Üstel emphasized that Turkey's role as a guarantor and the presence of Turkish troops on the island remain non-negotiable aspects of the region's security.
