TRNC to implement E-Visa and Göç-Sis migration control systems
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has announced the implementation of the Göç-Sis and E-Visa systems to enhance border security, combat irregular migration, and maintain public order. The new measures aim to ensure that the state maintains a record of every individual entering the country, including their purpose and status.
In the initial phase, citizens of Syria, Nigeria, and Armenia will be integrated into the E-Visa system, replacing the current consulate-based visa process. The Migration Department will conduct preliminary reviews of these applications, coordinating with the police and other relevant institutions to perform security and suitability assessments before travelers arrive.
Additionally, the government is introducing stricter controls for foreign students. Under the new regulations, receiving a university acceptance will no longer automatically guarantee entry into the country. Universities will be required to submit candidate information and documentation online to the Migration Department for evaluation alongside police feedback.
