TRNC universities meet to discuss research ecosystem and cooperation

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) participated in the “Research Centers Ecosystem in TRNC Higher Education: Experience Sharing, Areas of Cooperation and Future Perspectives” meeting. Hosted by the Near East University Excellence Center, the event took place at the Near East University Artificial Intelligence, Informatics and Innovation Center.

The meeting gathered over 50 representatives from various excellence centers, research centers, and institutes belonging to Eastern Mediterranean University, Girne American University, Lefke European University, International Cyprus University, and Near East University.

In addition to academic representatives, the gathering included officials from the Council of Higher Education Planning, Audit, Accreditation and Coordination (YÖDAK), the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Lefkoşa Program Coordination Office, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Economy and Energy. Representatives from the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa and the Development and Economic Cooperation (KEİ) Office were also in attendance.

During opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören, Prof. Dr. Umut Aksoy, and Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca, speakers noted the increasing international visibility of TRNC universities and their significant capacity for scientific production. They emphasized the need to transform this capacity into joint projects and external funding sources.
