Trịnh Hồng Đăng targeted in leaked Miss Universe Vietnam group chat

A controversy has emerged within the Miss Universe Vietnam pageant following the leak of a group chat involving Miss Universe Vietnam 2026 winner Quỳnh Anh and runner-up Trịnh Mỹ Anh. The leaked messages reportedly contained disparaging remarks about fellow contestant and former Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 runner-up Trịnh Hồng Đăng.

According to social media reports, the chat included mockery regarding a situation where Hồng Đăng requested an urgent return to Ho Chi Minh City due to a friend in critical condition. The messages also allegedly included jokes and unflattering photos of her taken during the competition.

In response to the backlash, Quỳnh Anh issued a direct apology to Hồng Đăng, citing the competitive nature of the pageant as the cause for her inappropriate comments and actions. While the two reached a reconciliation through a handshake, Hồng Đăng noted that she had not received apologies from all involved parties via social media, though she expressed appreciation for Mỹ Anh’s apology.
