Trịnh Long Vũ: From popular VTV host to media executive

Trịnh Long Vũ, a prominent Vietnamese television presenter and editor born in 1974, has transitioned from a well-known media personality to a management role. During the 2000s, he became a familiar face on Vietnam Television (VTV), notably hosting programs such as ‘Chiếc Nón Kỳ Diệu’ (Wheel of Fortune) and various Lunar New Year specials.

Before his television career, Long Vũ was the lead singer of the student band Desire, which performed Beatles covers in Hanoi during the early 1990s. His professional trajectory at VTV included serving as an editor for English news and a sports commentator. He later moved into leadership positions, serving as the Head of the Sports Department for Cable Television and eventually becoming the Editor-in-Chief at VTVcab in 2011.

Due to his management responsibilities, his on-screen appearances became less frequent. In early 2020, Long Vũ resigned from his leadership position to pursue an early retirement.
