Trofeo dello Strigile tennis tournament begins in Reggio Calabria

The 41st edition of the “Trofeo dello Strigile Domenico Travia - medaglia d’oro Federico Bianco” is taking place at the Circolo Tennis Rocco Polimeni in Reggio Calabria. This men's open tournament is the most significant of its kind in the Calabria region, featuring a total prize pool of €10,880.

The event includes 107 participants, with 26 players ranked between 2/8 and 2/1. The top seed is Alessandro Ingarao, a two-time Italian 2nd category champion and sparring partner to Jannik Sinner. The winner will receive approximately €3,600 and a 21g gold medal valued at roughly €1,000.

In addition to the matches, the tournament hosts workshops on nutritional education and mental preparation for athletes. The final matches are scheduled for the weekend, with the championship final and award ceremony set for Sunday, August 30.
