Trofeo Madonna del Ponte basketball tournament begins in Italy

The fourth edition of the Trofeo Madonna del Ponte – Patrona della Pallacanestro – Memorial Avv. Gherardo Nesti is taking place in the Appennino region, specifically in Porretta Terme and Lizzano in Belvedere. Recognized by the FIP Youth Sector as a major event for the category, the tournament features eight regional Under 15 male selections: Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardia, Marche, Piemonte, Toscana, and Veneto.

Representing the Toscana region, four players from Pontedera Basket JB—Francesco Burchielli, Leonardo Filippeschi, Marco Matteoli, and Brando Pieroni—have been selected to compete. The tournament brings together approximately 200 athletes and technical staff, alongside national selectors and regional FIP committee presidents. In addition to the competition, a training course for national referees is being held concurrently with the event.
