Trogir traffic disruption sparks dispute over CRO Race organization

The passage of the CRO Race cycling event through Trogir has sparked a dispute between local authorities and event organizers regarding traffic management. Trogir Mayor Ante Bilić criticized the organization, stating the city was effectively cut off from traffic for approximately three hours. Bilić reported that the simultaneous closure of the lower road and the bypass left no alternative routes, causing significant delays for commuters and public transport. He noted that some passengers, including children and the elderly, had to walk for up to two hours after buses were forced to drop them off prematurely.

In response, race organizers defended their procedures, asserting that the safety of competitors and citizens is their top priority. They stated that road closures were coordinated with the Police Directorate and that information was communicated through local media and the Croatian Automobile Club. Organizers denied that Trogir or Čiovo were completely cut off, claiming a traffic corridor remained open via the new Čiovo bridge. They maintained that closures on the D8 state road were brief, lasting approximately 30 minutes during specific race intervals to minimize disruption.
