Troina Mayor Alfio Giachino Files Complaint Over Internet, Phone Outages

The municipality of Troina in Sicily has filed a formal complaint (esposto) with the Prosecutor’s Office in Enna and lodged additional complaints with the communications regulator AGCOM, the regional body CORECOM Sicilia, and the network operator FiberCop S.p.A. The action was taken because of repeated disruptions to the town’s internet and fixed‑line telephone services. In the last two weeks the outages paralysed the community for four days, and the town experiences about twenty blackouts per year, equivalent to a month of lost work, affecting residents, students, health facilities, banks and local businesses.

Mayor Alfio Giachino and digital‑services assessor Giuseppe Schillaci said the measure is intended to determine any possible criminal liability and to assess the real condition of the infrastructure. They have asked for investigations, a mapping of all affected municipalities and the creation of a direct communication channel to monitor faults and keep citizens informed.
