TRON cryptocurrency falls as Binance hack fallout impacts TRX price
TRON (TRX) fell approximately 6 percent on October 31, retreating toward $0.32. This decline follows a sharp rally that was linked to unusual on-chain activity following a major security breach at Binance.
Investigations by TRM Labs indicate that approximately $628 million moved from Binance-controlled wallets through the TRON network, including 612.7 million USDT and 46.4 million TRX. The volatility was driven by the conversion of stolen USDT into TRX, which created substantial buying activity. However, investigators noted this demand was associated with suspected laundering activity rather than organic investor interest.
The broader market instability stems from a breach where attackers moved billions of dollars across multiple blockchain networks. While Binance has not officially confirmed a breach, a spokesperson stated they are investigating reports of a security incident. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao indicated on X that customer funds were safe. In response to the movement of stolen assets, Tether and Circle have frozen approximately $1.8 billion in affected stablecoins.
